Biography

Lemuel Wade brings an international, critically acclaimed career as a classically trained tenor and dancer to his craft as a stage director. Recent engagements include assistant direction for Porgy and Bess at Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, as well as the acclaimed stage direction for the first ever performances of Porgy and Bess at the Cincinnati Opera. He also directed Dreaming Of Wonderland, excerpted for American Opera Projects, in collaboration with the Manhattan School of Music. For New York City’s Symphony Space, he staged Mrs. President, a collaboration with the Anchorage Opera. As an assistant director, he has also worked with New York Harlem Production’s international tour of Porgy and Bess, an ongoing production with which he has been affiliated for over ten years.
