Biography

Former Member of the Atelier lyrique (2012-2013). David Menzies is a graduate of McGill University and the University of Manitoba, and has furthered his training at the Britten-Pears School and the Banff Centre. Notable appearances include Rachmaninoff’s Vespers and J.S. Bach’s Cantatas BWV20, 60 with the St. Lawrence Choir, Pérotin’s Viderunt omnes with the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal, Ottavio (Don Giovanni) at the Summer Opera Lyric Theatre in Toronto, the Male Chorus (The Rape of Lucretia) at Opera McGill, J.S. Bach’s St John Passion at the Aldeburgh Festival, UK, Damon (Les Indes galantes) with Bourbon Baroque in Louisville (KY), Mozart’s Davidde penitente with the Orchestre symphonique du Saguenay-Lac Saint-Jean, and the title role in Rameau’s Pigmalion with Compagnie Baroque Mont-Royal.
