OPERA: WHAT A STORY!
INTRODUCTORY OPERA WORKSHOP
What is opera? It’s a story told through music—complete with sets, costumes, lighting, and even dance! This interactive workshop introduces young audiences to an art form that has captivated audiences for over 400 years. From vocal techniques and voice types to the key elements of an opera and a bit of history, students will explore opera alongside a professional opera singer—who will even get them singing!
- Target audience: Ages 5 to 12 – adaptable for school groups.
- Format: 50-minute in-class workshop.
- Language: Available in French or English.
OPERA-MINUTE
Experience opera through a fun, hands-on creative workshop!
Creating an opera in just a few steps has never been this exciting! Using excerpts from famous operatic works, students dive into the world of musical storytelling. They’ll reinvent lyrics, discover their own voices, and perform some of opera’s most iconic scenes!
- Target audience: Ages 5 to 12 – adaptable for school groups.
- Format: Four 60-minute in-class workshops.
- Language: Available in French or English.
THE ECHO OF PLANTS
Create an eco-friendly mini-opera using music generated from botanical data!
Create an eco-friendly mini-opera using music generated from botanical data! What if plants could make music? Using data collected from Canadian flora—transformed into sound through artificial intelligence—students will explore the connection between nature and music creation. They’ll write lyrics, compose melodies, and design the staging for a unique mini-opera inspired by today’s environmental challenges. An immersive experience where science and art come together!
- Target audience: Ages 12 to 16 (high school students).
- Format: Six 60-minute in-class workshops.
- Language: Available in French or English.
