American soprano Talise Trevigne began the 2016-17 Season at Kentucky Opera in the title role of Madama Butterfly, a role that brought her enormous success when she debuted it last season. She returned to the UK to sing Strauss’s Four Last Songs with CBSO, and she appears in Jake Heggie’s world premiere It’s a Wonderful Life at Houston Grand Opera. The role of Leila (Les Pêcheurs de Perles) followed at North Carolina Opera, and at Glimmerglass Festival she took on the role of Bess (Porgy and Bess) in a new production by Francesca Zambello. In September 2017, Talise sings the role of Micaëla at Hawaii Opera Theatre.
Recent great successes include title role Iris at Bard SummerScape Festival, which brought her unprecedented accolades from critics. Additionally she was greatly honored to be nominated for a 2016 Grammy Award in the category Best Solo Classical CD for her rendition of Christopher Rouse’s masterpiece Kabir Padavali with Albany Symphony.
Miss Trevigne also appeared in Ricky Ian Gordon’s Orpheus and Euridice and appeared as Pamina (The Magic Flute) at Hawaii Opera Theatre. Other past highlights include her role debut as Ophelia (Hamlet) at Fort Worth Opera; Getry’s rarely-heard L’Epreuve Villageoise in a recording and performances with Opera Lafayette, and as the Heroines (Les Contes d’Hoffmann) at Opera de Lyon.
Other notable appearances include Portland Opera’s Pirates of Penzance as Mabel, Julie (Showboat) at Washington National Opera, in New Zealand Opera’s La Boheme as Mimi-a role she also sang in the past at Opera Omaha-Michaela (Carmen) at San Diego Opera. At Knoxville Opera, Miss Trevigne appeared as Gilda and in the title role Manon.
