Tenor Sylvain Paré recently created the roles of Mike Coal in Théâtre du Futur’s very popular surf-opera La Vague parfaite, performed over 30 times on various Montreal stages, and Chérot in Gilles Tremblay’s enchanting opera L’eau qui danse, la pomme qui chante et l’oiseau qui dit la verité with Montreal company Chants Libres. In recent years, he has also portrayed Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Fritz in Offenbach’s La Grande Duchesse de Gerolstein, Gérald in Delibes’ Lakmé, Tamino in Mozart’s The Magic Flute, the Husband in Poulenc’s Les mamelles de Tirésias, and Andrès in Berg’s Wozzeck. In January 2020, he will reprise his role as Piangi in the French version of The Phantom of the Opera (Le fantôme de l’opéra) at Théâtre Saint-Denis.
