Michael Christie is equally at home in the symphonic and opera worlds. Currently the Music Director of the Minnesota Opera, his conducting career has also included Music Director positions with the Phoenix Symphony and Brooklyn Philharmonic, and Chief Conductor of the Queensland Orchestra. Recent opera highlights include world premiere performances of Mason Bates’ The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs with Santa Fe Opera and Huang Ruo’s An American Soldier with Opera Theatre of St. Louis. This season, Christie leads performances at Chicago Lyric Opera and Michigan Opera Theatre. He lives in Minneapolis with his wife, Alexis, a physician, and their two children.
