Johnny Ranger

Jean Ranger, also known as Johnny Ranger, is a versatile video and design artist. He divides his time between his own interdisciplinary creations involving unusual or multi-screen projections and collaborates as a new media director with projects involving choreographers, directors, media art centers and design studios.

His artistic work has been shown at FILE festival (Sao Paolo and Rio de Janeiro), Ars Futura (Barcelona), at the New Museum of Contemporary Art (NYC), the Montreal Biennial, at TransitioMX (Mexico), the B3 Biennial of moving images (Frankfurt) and the Canadian Cultural Centre (Paris) amongst others.

He regularly works in collaboration at the SAT (Society for Arts and Technology) and over the last several years Johnny has focused on creating works that use 360-degree circumferential projections. He has been artistic director at Moment Factory from 2004 to 2008. Recently he created the video projections for the opening of the Pan American games an event by Cirque du Soleil presented at the Rogers Center in Toronto.

His work put the visual language on the foreground of scenic events and presents a new type of immersive cinema that stimulates the public to choose their own narratives from the multiple iconographic paths that are often proposed simultaneously.
