Jean-François Lapointe is regarded as one of the finest baritones of his generation, renowned for his rich voice, the subtlety of his performances, and his stage presence. His repertoire ranges from Gluck (Alceste, Iphigénie en Tauride) to 20th century music (Pelléas et Mélisande, Dialogues des Carmélites), with a penchant for French (Hamlet, Faust, Carmen, Werther, Les pêcheurs de perles, Les Troyens) and Italian works, be they by Verdi (La traviata, Falstaff, Don Carlo), Rossini (Il barbiere di Siviglia, Guillaume Tell, Le Comte Ory) or Donizetti (Lucia di Lammermoor, La Favorite). He is a Chevalier of the Ordre national du Québec.
