Ariane Girard

Voice Teacher

Graced with a velvety, brilliant, and generous voice, mezzo-soprano Ariane Girard has been performing before audiences and working with masterful artists, throughout Quebec and in Europe, for over 15 years. A great lover of orchestral music, she is passionately committed to her favourite repertoire, which includes works for voice and orchestra by Mahler and sacred music. Her refined performances and great mastery of the vocal repertoire have also made her a brilliant recitalist.

Born in the Lac-Saint-Jean region, Ariane Girard is a winner of the Canadian Music Competition’s Grand Prize and a second prize at the Orchestre Symphonique de Trois-Rivières Competition; she was also a finalist at the Maria Callas Grand Prix, the Concours international de Marmande (French melody), and the Concorso per cantante lirici in Alcamo. In recital, she has given noteworthy performances of vocal works by Brahms, Dvorak, Schumann, Massenet, and Strauss. In performing Mahler’s Rückert Lieder and Kindertoten Lieder, Mozart and Verdi’s Requiems, Bach’s Magnificat, and Palmeri’s Missa Tango, her voice blends harmoniously with the scale of the orchestra to reach out to the audience.

Ariane Girard’s fascination with vocal technique has also seen her dedicate herself to teaching for over 10 years now, working with both professional singers and those starting their careers. As the Head Voice Teacher at the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal since 2016, she has been recognized for the clarity and effectiveness of her instruction, as well as for her rapid diagnosis of vocal problems, making her a sought-after guest to lead masterclasses and sit on competition juries and audition panels.

Alongside her career as a singer and teacher, Ariane Girard is also a devoted mother to three treasured young children, including twins who arrived during the pandemic.
