Alain Gauthier

Regarded by critics as a “sure bet” in today’s opera milieu, Alain Gauthier continues to make his mark in North American opera houses. He has applied his staging expertise to a number of works at the Opéra de Montréal, including Suor Angelica, Il tabarro, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Pagliacci/Gianni Schicchi (Opus Award for Best Production of the Year), La bohème, L’étoile (also at the Cincinnati Opera, Austin Lyric Opera, and New York City Opera), Faust, and Dead Man Walking (Opus Award for Musical Event of the Year). Recent engagements include Carmen at the Calgary Opera, Trilogie de la Séduction with the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal, Die Zauberflöte at the Opéra de Québec, and Elektra in 2015 at the Opéra de Montréal.
