Marc Hervieux - Canio

Since being chosen by Valery Gergiev to sing Alfredo (La traviata) in St. Petersburg, Marc Hervieux’s career has been taken to new heights. Engagements in 2008-2009 included the title role of Faust for Calgary Opera, Alfredo (La traviata) for Edmonton Opera, Turridù (Cavalleria rusticana) at Opéra de Québec, Zéro Janvier (Starmania) at Opéra de Montréal, and an appearance at Toronto’s Roy Thomson Hall in Bravissimo. Recent engagements include Cavaradossi (Tosca) at Calgary Opera and the title role of Werther at Opera Ontario; he also joined the roster of the Metropolitan Opera in 2006. Last OdM appearance: Starmania (2009).

Marie-Josée Lord - Nedda

After a busy year at the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal in 2002, Marie-Josée Lord made her successful debut as Liù (Turandot) at Opéra de Québec, which she followed with an appearance as Julia (Passionnément) at Opéra de Rennes. In 2004, she portrayed Mimì (La bohème) at Opéra de Montréal, returning as Liù later that year. Also in 2004, she was Marie-Jeanne in the Orchestre symphonique de Montréal’s concert version of Starmania, which was repeated at the Palais des Congrès in Paris in 2005. Also in 2005, she received the Prix de la Fondation de l’Opéra de Québec. Last OdM appearance: Starmania (2009).

Gregory Dahl - Tonio

Gregory Dahl has staked his claim to a position of prominence among baritones of his generation, with performances notable for richness of characterization and remarkable vocal authority. He came to national attention as Francis Chancy (Beatrice Chancy) and has since been hailed in such roles as Sharpless (Madama Butterfly) at Vancouver Opera, Malatesta (Don Pasquale) at Opera Ontario, Belcore (L’elisir d’amore) at Manitoba Opera, and Charlie (Filumena) at Calgary Opera and Edmonton Opera. Recent engagements include the title role in Don Giovanni at Edmonton Opera and Pacific Opera Victoria, Falke (Die Fledermaus) at Manitoba Opera, and Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at Edmonton Opera. Last OdM appearance: Le Gala (2005).

Étienne Dupuis - Silvio

First heard with the Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal in such roles as Aeneas (Dido and Aeneas), Etienne Dupuis also appeared as Marullo (Rigoletto) and the Mandarin (Turandot), among others, with Opéra de Montréal. Other appearances include: Lescaut (Manon Lescaut) at the New Israeli Opera, Papageno (The Magic Flute) at Vancouver Opera, Mercutio (Roméo et Juliette) at Hawaii Opera Theatre, and Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia) at Opéra de Marseille. He recently appeared as Johnny Rockfort (Starmania) at Opéra de Québec and also portrays Silvano (Un ballo in maschera) at Opéra de Paris in 2009. Last OdM appearance: Starmania (2009).

Pascal Charbonneau - Beppe

A former member of the Atelier lyrique de l'Opéra de Montréal, his roles include Don Ottavio (Don Giovanni), Tamino (The Magic Flute), Peter Quint (The Turn of the Screw), Jupiter (Semele), Don Ramiro (La Cenerentola), and Gonzalve (L'Heure espagnole). Recent seasons have included Pedrillo (Die Entführung aus dem Serail) with Opera Ontario and the Aspen Music Festival, Brighella (Ariadne auf Naxos) and Remendado (Carmen) at Opéra de Montréal, and Diary of One Who Vanished also at the Aspen Music Festival. He has also sung with Les Violons du Roy, Tafelmusik, Cincinnati Opera, Flanders Opera, and in recital in Belgium and Spain. Last OdM appearance: Starmania (2009).
