A native of Halifax (N.S.), Josh Whelan has been seen recently in performances including the title roles in Don Giovanni (AEDO), Le Nozze di Figaro (COSI), and Aleko (Opera Five). He also performed in Così Fan Tutte (Guglielmo) and L’Elisir d’Amore (Belcore) at the University of Toronto, where he recently completed his Masters in Music (Opera Performance) on a Bombardier Scholarship. A student of J. Patrick Raftery, he is returning from a busy summer of recitals and operatic engagements, most recent of which was Saskatoon Opera’s production of Carmen (Moralès / Le Dancaïre). His Debut role is Mandarino (Turandot) with the Opera de Montréal.
