Biography

Russian born Galina Shesterneva has lived and worked in Germany since 2002, appearing on the roster at the National Theater in Mannheim, and in many major theatres throughout the country, where she has established herself as a leading spinto soprano. Her repertoire includes such roles as Aida, Abigaille (Nabucco), Tosca, Norma, Turandot, Manon Lescaut, Suor Angelica, Giorgetta (Il tabarro), Elvira (Ernani), Leonora (Il trovatore), Cio-Cio-San (Madama Butterfly), Santuzza (Cavalleria rusticana), Maddalena de Coigny (Andrea Chénier), Elisabeth (Tannhäuser), Amelia (Un ballo in maschera), Elisabetta (Don Carlos), Amelia (Simon Boccanegra), Desdemona (Otello), Lady Macbeth (Macbeth), and Minnie (La fanciulla del West). Recurring guest engagements have taken her to Bonn, Berlin, Amsterdam, Graz, and Essen. In 2014, she also appears in a new production of Stiffelio at the National Theater in Mannheim, and she returns to the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow for further performances of Turandot. OdM debut.
