Clientele: 5th and 6th grades
Each year, the coOpera project invites 125 students from four Commission scolaire de Montréal elementary schools (Jeanne-LeBer, De la Petite-Bourgogne, St-Zotique, and Notre-Dame-du-Perpétuel-Secours), to take part in an extraordinary pedagogical, artistic, and cultural experience.
The goal is to work together to produce a collective creation inspired by a work being presented at the Opéra de Montréal during the current season. Over the seasons, the coOpera project has been applauded by over thirty-five thousand spectators, and has been honoured with numerous awards of recognition from both the school and political milieus.
This great undertaking is made possible through the cooperative work of the Opéra de Montréal and the Atelier lyrique, the City of Montréal (Southwest Borough), Salle Jean-Grimaldi, the Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (through its Soutien l’école montréalaise programme), the Ministère de la Culture, des Communications et de la Condition feminine (through its La Culture à l’école programme), and the four above-mentioned schools.
It is with renewed pleasure that the Opéra de Montréal will take part in the coOpera project for a fourth consecutive year.
